"It was really through publishing that I was able to share the ideas that I came up with with the global scientific community," explained Mario Milicevic, Sr. Principal Engineer and System Architect at MaxLinear, who published his doctoral research in IEEE Transactions on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems. He is now an IEEE volunteer and technical peer reviewer for IEEE. "In deciding where to publish, you typically look for, 'Where is the conversation happening? Which journal would be most relevant for these ideas? And which journal would reach the widest audience?’ Many of my collaborators and my Ph.D. advisor were IEEE Senior members so they were really able to guide and help us decide where to publish our ideas and which journal would have the highest impact."
